Place Services' Ecology team provided bespoke training for Essex County Council Country Parks for ground based surveys for bats in trees and woodland in line with BS8596 2015.
Principal Ecological Consultant Sue Hooton is an experienced and licensed bat ecologist and led a one-day course with classroom and outdoor practical sessions. The course covered inspection of features using an endoscope and informed participants when a licensed expert is required to comply with legislation. This has allowed rangers to survey trees needing health and safety works and justify requesting checks by a licensed bat ecologist prior to works commencing.
