Central Bedfordshire Design Code Guidance

Place Services were appointed to consult on and produce a guidance document to aid both planning officers and applicants in the production of and content expected from Design Code documentation. The aim of the guidance is to outline the requirements of design coding while exploring suitable triggers where codes are required.

The guidance is aimed at creating a desk-based reference document ensuring, both Central Bedfordshire Planning Officers and applicants know the expectations and requirements from feasibility through to planning submission.

The benefit of the guidance outlined key timescales and programme expectations, demonstrating that early involvement benefits design, planning and the application process.

The guidance has been worked up in parallel to the release of the revised NPPF in 2018, along with Central Bedfordshire’s Local Plan.
