Place Services published the first version of the Essex Biodiversity Validation Checklist in 2012. The Checklist is an interactive electronic guide for developers covering all the biodiversity information required to ensure planning applications can be successfully validated by Local Planning Authorities.
It was produced in collaboration with the Essex Biodiversity Project and supported and funded by Natural England.
Place Services regularly update the Checklist in light of user feedback and changes to biodiversity legislation and policy. Such as the introduction of British Standard 42020:2013: Biodiversity. Code of practice for planning and development.
