The school won a green pledge award from the Young Essex Assembly. Place Services organised a consultation workshop with staff members and school children to identify elements wanted for their new ecogarden. The children also made models of ideas from cardboard, glue and other materials. These were varied and imaginative and very successful.
The design incorporated some of the ideas that came out from the consultation and the planting was implemented with the help of the children. The new ecogarden, which will also allow for outdoor learning/class activities, included a small paved circular area with seating, shrub and tree planting and bird tables and houses to help bring nature closer to the children.
