Alice Cattermole

Alice is a freelance Heritage Consultant with particular expertise in heritage data management. She is an experienced project manager and a recognised authority on HER data and HER enhancement. Alice has worked for a range of local authorities, the National Trust, Idox and Historic England on a variety of HER-related projects. Prior to becoming a consultant in 2015, Alice managed the Norfolk HER for over a decade.

Alice has recently completed several strategic national and regional projects, writing the UK HER Manual for Historic England (2023) and managing the review and updating of the Regional Research Framework for the East of England on behalf of ALGAO East (2020). Alice has particular interests in historic buildings, landscape archaeology, and finds identification and recording.

Alice’s work with Place Services includes providing a strategic overview of the development of the Essex HER, the management of the Essex HER Enhancement Project, and the integration of data from the National Record of the Historic Environment.
