Robin Mathieson


Robin joined Place Services as an Assistant Historic Environment Consultant in January 2024. He works within the historic environment team to deliver specialist archaeological and historic environment planning advice for Place Services to Local Planning Authorities as well as assisting with a range of project work.

He has been an archaeologist for 10 years, with an extensive background in fieldwork. He has worked on a catalogue of archaeological sites throughout Essex and Suffolk, with substantial excavations in and around Colchester city centre. Including the famous Fenwick hoard site, the Roman bath house at Jacks, work on the oldest barrack block walls in the country and excavations on Britain’s only Roman Circus. He has experience in presenting at public open days and giving talks to community groups.
